Hello! I’m Sophie and I am the founder of Behind The Artist.

Growing up in a small coastal town in North Yorkshire, I have always been surrounded by natural beauty and inspiration that has inspired my imagination. My passion for being creative led me to study; Graphic Design, Fine Art and Music at A Level. During this time, I was able to study various artists and read artist interviews which really inspired me. I have always wanted to do something for the arts community and this ignited the spark for ‘Behind The Artist’. Not only is this a platform for artists to promote their work, but it is also a place to educate and inspire people of all ages to do art. 

I aim to interview various artists from painters, to sculptors, to illustrators and everything in between. I hope to build a thriving like-minded community and connect both enthusiasts, students and artists alike.

As a collector myself, I believe that people can form more of an attachment with work when they know the story behind it and have an understanding of the artist. This is why I think these interviews are a great way to share stories and connect with people.
