Gill with Cape

£1,400.00

Artist: Andrew Thomson

Size: 70cm x 100cm

Oil on Canvas

I am a portrait and figurative artist based in Glasgow, I have recently been lucky enough to exhibit with the ROI, NEAC and SSA. Gill is a musician and friend of mine who I recently painted for my ‘Quiet’ series, my first solo show proper, which I have exhibited in July this year. The aim of the series was to explore the power of silence and stillness. After sitting with Gill for some time we settled on this pose which I think really encapsulates the theme of quiet, Gills eyes almost closed and her bun seemingly managing to balance delicately on her head along with the beauty of Gills cape all impart this sense of quiet and stillness.
