Submissions for the BTA Art Prize 2026 are now open, and close on 1st February 2026 23:59pm GBT

The BTA Art Prize was launched in 2024 with the aim to champion emerging artistic talent and foster meaningful engagement within the creative community. The competition welcomes artists internationally to showcase their work in all two-dimensional media including painting, drawing, mixed media, textiles and original printmaking, from amateur to professional artists.

The competition showcases the work of artists of all ages and abilities on an international stage, creating an inclusive platform where creativity is valued over experience or background.

SCHEDULE

 FAQs

  • • Works in any 2D medium – painting, drawing, printmaking, and more

    • Artists based in the UK & Internationally

    • Amateur, emerging, and established artists

    • Any theme or subject matter

  • • Three-dimensional or sculptural work

    • Digital, computer manipulated, or AI art

    • Pure photography

    • Digital prints e.g. giclée

  • Judging will take place between the 1st -9th February.

    What is the judging criteria?

    - Intent & concept: How well does the artist achieve what they set out to do?

    - Creativity & originality: Does the artist display an interesting approach to the work, or an innovative style?

    - Technical ability & execution: How well has the work been produced?

    - Viewer response: Does the work capture and hold the viewer's attention & interest? For example, emotionally, visually, or intellectually?

  • When will I hear the results?
    All entrants will be emailed between 10th - 15th February to be informed if they have been Shortlisted, Longlisted or unsuccessful.

    I’ve been longlisted! What doe
    s that mean?
    Longlisted artists will be invited to exhibit on the BTA gallery, as well as be automatically entered for the People’s Choice Award.

    I’ve been shortlisted! What does that mean?
    Shortlisted artists will be invited to exhibit on the BTA gallery, as well as be automatically entered for the People’s Choice Award. A selection of these artists will be also be awarded with art materials.
